WHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC?

The human body is designed to be self-regulating and self-healing mechanism via the nervous system. The spinal column is designed to protect the vital connection between the nervous system and the body. Therefore, through Chiropractic care, an optimal functioning spine and nervous system equals optimal health.

WHAT IS A SUBLUXATION?

Your central nervous system consists of your brain and spinal cord. Spinal nerves branch off of the spinal cord and control every single cell, tissue and organ in your entire body. In order for your body to regulate and heal properly, messages must be able to flow freely from the brain to the body and from the body to the brain via your nerves. A subluxation occurs when a spinal bone (vertebrae) becomes misaligned, causing “pinching” or irritation of a spinal nerve; cutting off the communication from the brain to the body and vice versa. This results in interference to the nervous system and body malfunction (dis-ease). When a subluxation is present, your body is unable to self-regulate and self-heal as it was designed to. A subluxation can be present for years without producing any signs or symptoms, or it can manifest as a multitude of symptoms no matter what your age. Unfortunately, it’s estimated only 8-14% of all nerves can actually sense pain. This means that you may have a subluxation present and not know it; some refer to the subluxation as “the silent killer” for this very reason. The only way to find out if you have subluxations and to have them corrected is to see a principled chiropractor who is trained specifically to assess the nervous system for subluxations and correct them with a specific chiropractic adjustments.

TRUE CORRECTION VS. TEMPORARY RELIEF

A popular misconception about chiropractic care is that it is for temporary pain relief only. Many chiropractors choose to limit their practice to pain relief only. That is fine, but at Warren Family Chiropractic we have chosen to focus on corrective care and wellness care. When we begin correcting subluxations, pain relief is often one of the first things to be experienced and it is definitely welcomed, but our primary concern is to address the cause of your problem so your symptoms go away and stay away. Chiropractic care for temporary relief may offer you some reprieve from pain, but no real correction will take place and the underlying cause will remain an issue. In essence, pain relief doesn’t return your body back to its’ natural ability to heal and regulate at 100%. Chiropractic corrective care offers true correction by addressing the cause of your body’s dysfunction and allows your body to express optimum health! Because when your body is functioning well you are going to feel well also.

Once corrective care is completed and your body is functioning at its’ optimum level again, we then offer wellness care to maintain that correction. A good analogy is having braces put on your teeth to straighten them. There is a period (usually of a couple years) of correction to retrain the ligaments around your teeth. Then once the braces are removed you want to maintain that correction by wearing a retainer (the maintenance).
